You know you “have arrived” in the fashion world of modeling if you are hired as Editorial Models for a major client.

These types of models are hired to tell a story without words and just by a photograph or a group of photographs in a fashion magazine.

The story is been told by the model but is what the photographer and editor worked on and advises the model how to tell the story (what to wear. How to pose, what makeup, etc)
You get different types of models as well.

BELOW FIND A LIST OF THE TEN DIFFERENT TYPES OF MODELS:

  1. THE FASHION OR EDITORIAL MODEL: these models usually appear in the high fashion magazines and have everything a model has to have to survive like tall and slim and the reason we mentioned if you make it as this type of model you have made it. Is because the photographers and editors only take models who are considered to have the complete package.
  2. RUNWAY MODEL: These models only appear on the catwalks to display / model a designer’s new designs and have to be at least 5’9 and the precise size as the designers only make one in the size he or she feels it should be in.
  3. THE SWIMWEAR AND LINGERIE MODEL: mostly these models are there to show off the latest in swimwear, lingerie, underwear, and even sleepwear. They are usually much curvier and fuller figures to show more skin than a garment.
  4. COMMERCIAL MODELS: this is the most versatile and diverse of them all. As you do not have to be “the perfect model figure” like editorials models. Many new and start-up models start here
  5. FITNESS MODEL: These are models that are usually well-toned and athletic, and usually models fitness garments either in magazines or in commercials and sometimes are used in fitness routine shows
  6. PARTS MODELS: These models are usually hired by clients who sell shoes and jewelry as they usually have the perfect hands and or feet, legs, and arms. They have also been known to model in commercials for hand and nail products.
  7. FIT MODEL: these are the behind the scene models as you never see them. They are used in the factory or manufacturing sector and used as a size fitter so the designer can know what size has to be cur and combined with other garments for best results.
  8. PROMOTIONAL MODEL: You usually find these models at live shows or live promotions. They should not be shy but extremely personable as well have the full knowledge of their product.
  9. GLAMOUR MODELS: These models are much curvier than you editorials though they should still have the facial beauty and body shape package. They tend to pose more suggestively that the other models and usually in skimpy swimwear, underwear, and lingerie.
  10. PRINT MODELS: These models are usually found on billboards, pamphlets. Booklets and flyers. They all tend to have the perfect smile and clear perfect skin.
An editorial model shoot involves many people to get “the story “just right. The photos usually come alone in the magazine but can at times have a few words to illustrate an idea and to embellish visually a certain theme.
